Borrowing from a famous Theodore Roosevelt quote, Coach Fischer dubbed the 2013 EHS field hockey Varsity and JV programs as "teams that dared greatly."
In a brief presentation at the end-of-season party (attended by 60+ players and their family members), Coach Fischer said that despite not winning many games this season, the program realized many important successes. These included having enough participants to field a JV team (after being a varsity-only program in recent years). For the varsity team, more shots were taken and more goals were scored. Fewer shots were taken against EHS and more saves were made.
Coach Fischer added these words to support her "dared greatly“ theme... "It was a thrill to coach a young and improving team at Eastridge this fall. We had many close games against teams with rosters twice the size of ours. It was tremendously satisfying to work with a team that played as hard as EHS did... that never gave up... and that improved all season. I think that experience will serve all EHS players well in their future seasons as Lady Lancers or, for seniors, wherever they end up playing field hockey in college.”
