EHS FH WEEKLY UPDATE 9/17 - 9/23

9/16/18... Hello EHS FH Players and Families. We finished week with a strong game against Pittsford Sutherand. The 3-0 loss does not reflect the 53 minutes of focused and competitive FH we played. We had many players in new positions. We had several new game tactics to implement. And, despite the heat on Saturday morning, we executed our game plan very well — both defensively and on attack. You should all be proud of the effort put forth by EHS FH on Saturday! This week we have games on Tuesday @EHS 6pm vs. Webster Schroeder and Saturday @Penfield 9am. It is very important for all players to be at all practices and to participate to your fullest abilities. Practices are where you get better! We always use the prior game to work on three things we need to perform better in the next game. Every practice is important for individual and team improvement. See below for rundown of our FH week ahead (DETAILS for each day are presented below as well). Thx, Coach Fischer

P.S. A SPECAL NOTE TO EHS FH PARENTS
We greatly appreciate your support at our FH games. However, each year we remind parents & other FH fans to keep your comments positive & supportive during our games. Please do not “coach” from the sidelines & bleachers (it can be distracting and stressful to your daughters). Please do not comment on the calls by officials (they are doing their best). Section V field hockey strongly emphasizes a culture of respect and sportsmanship among players, coaches, officials and spectators. Each year Section V field hockey awards a sportsmanship trophy to one team in each division. Our players and coaches work hard to earn this important award (last awarded to EHSFH in 2012). Officials submit sportsmanship evaluations for each team after each game. These evaluations include sportsmanship among spectators as well as players and coaches. If the officials notice a team’s spectators being negative, coaching from the bleachers or angrily criticizing their calls, it is a strike against our entire TEAM sportsmanship evaluation. So, please, enjoy the games, keep your cheers positive and supportive for BOTH teams and know every player, coach and official on the field is doing their very best. Thx :)

IMPORTANT REMINDER PERTAINING TO PLAYING TIME:

Playing time at the varsity level is determined by the coaches. Many factors are used to determine starting lineups and substitutions. Because we have no JV FH team this year, we have an unusually wide range of experience and skill levels on this team. Younger and less experienced players benefit daily by practicing with the older players, which we believe will accelerate their learning this season. We will do our best to get as many players into games as possible. However, please understand that playing time is not guaranteed at the varsity level. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank you, Coach Fischer
