1) Do the MOST Good

3) Be the BEST Teammate

EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

A joyous 2024 Lancer Varsity FH team after a BIG 6-1 victory over ER on Senior Night 9/27/24

Sunday, April 6, 2025… Hello EIMS FH players and families! We had a great first week of practice! The players are practicing sticks skills every day (and they are getting REALLY good). They have learned key parts of the field, our basic player formation and the names of all the positions. Once we got out to EHS stadium turf on Thursday and Friday, we were able to start moving the FH ball across larger spaces while maintaining positioning. We practiced shooting on goal and started introducing defensive positioning. We have three players so far who have shown interest in learning goalkeeper. Our team is very lucky to have some skilled high school players (including our varsity goalkeeper) who are helping players with skills and positioning at our practices.

THIS WEEK we practice 3:15-5:15pm Monday-Thursday at Eastridge.

THIS WEEK we have a 5pm HOME scrimmage on Friday.

VERY IMPORTANT! - Tomorrow (Monday 4/7) we have a 6pm Meet The Coaches Night for parents/guardians in the EIMS cafeteria. We hope that at least one parent/guardian from each modified FH family can attend. Our FH coaches presentation will be useful and brief! Coach Cooper, Coach Evans and I look forward to meeting parents in person!

BE SURE TO SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE to read this week’s FH updates and be sure to scroll further down to THE WEEK AHEAD to know what is happening each day.

Thx,

Coach Fischer

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR PLAYERS ARE PREPARED FOR COLD WEATHER THIS WEEK!

We have another changeable week ahead in terms of weather. My two weather apps don’t quite agree on the extended forecast:

Weather forecast for Monday April 7 - Friday April 11, 2025

We will be at Eastridge all week. Given the forecast, we will have to take one day at a time to determine whether we will be outdoors or indoors. However, as things look right now, I am guessing we will be: Monday-outdoors; Tuesday-perhaps indoors (a good day to also hand out uniforms); Wednesday-outdoors; Thursday-outdoors. For the HOME scrimmage on Friday at 5pm, it looks like temps in the 40s will allow the game to proceed (but the Athletic Dept will make the final determination on Friday).

PLEASE make sure your players are prepared for cold weather on all of our practice days. A warm coat, sweatshirt, sweat pants, hat/headband and gloves are strongly recommended. We will practice outdoors in light precipitation, so a rain jacket may be a good idea on some days this week.

GAME DAY / SCRIMMAGE DAY Cold Weather Options

If the weather is very cold for a game or scrimmage, players are allowed to wear their own warm-weather gear. Options listed below:

  • Players can wear a long-sleeved shirt under their jersey. It is best to wear a white shirt under the white jersey and a navy blue or black long-sleeved shirt under the navy jersey.

  • Players can wear solid black or navy blue leggings under their skirt. The game socks have to be showing.

  • Players can wear gloves, knit headband or knit hat.

  • For the sideline, players should have very warm clothes and even blankets to wrap around while on the sideline.

BOOSTER CLUB FLOWER SALE BEGINS THIS WEEK

We will provide players and families with details pertaining to this fundraiser on Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

PLAYERS WHO ARE IN THE EIMS MUSICAL JUST NEED TO LET US KNOW IF THEY NEED TO LEAVE PRACTICES EARLY OR IF THEY WILL MISS GAMES

Coach Fischer has already spoken with the Director of the EIMS musical. She has confirmed that we have at least 10 FH players involved in the musical this year. We understand that certain players will need to leave practices early and may miss our first few games altogether. Other musical participants may have more flexibility to stay at practices longer and not miss games. All we ask is that players/families clearly communicate with us at least 1 day in advance what is required to fulfill their commitment to the musical the next day (or week, if that is easier). Some of you may have noticed that — at one point - we had four games scheduled the week of the musical. So far, we have successfully moved three of the four games to a different week. We are still working on moving the fourth game.

FALL 2023: SECTION V (DIV 2) COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR

Lancer Field Hockey Coaches Cooper and Fischer were honored to be named the Fall 2023 Section V Division II Coaching Staff of the Year by our fellow Section V field hockey coaches. It is a testament to the great improvement our very young varsity team made throughout the Fall 2023 season! (DID YOU KNOW? Coach Fischer was also named Section V Division II Coach of the Year in Fall 2016. That was another season of great improvement for our Lancers and also a season in which Coach Fischer coached BOTH the varsity and JV teams.)
