GAMES & PRACTICES QUICK OVERVIEW

  • Varsity and JV FH each have 3 games this week (Monday 9/14 AWAY@Brighton - two different locations; Thursday 9/17 HOME vs. Webster Thomas; Saturday 9/19 HOME vs Pittsford Sutherland)

  • We practice 3:30-5:30pm on days we do not have games. Locations vary, so check “The Week Ahead” listing below or the Arbiter app on your phone for practice locations.

  • ALL PLAYERS are expected to be at full FH practice times this week 3:30-5:30pm

  • If a player cannot attend a practice or game this week, they need to let their coaches know IN ADVANCE, in writing and provide a reason why. Text messages are preferred (V Coach Fischer 585-233-2105; JV Coach Posella 585-478-8221). Messaging via ParentSquare/StudentSquare is also acceptable.

STRENGTH WORKOUTS WITH COACH ISAIAH

  • On Tuesday 9/15 the Athletic Dept has assigned the FH team to complete a required 5:30-6:15pm strength workout in the EHS weight room with Coach Isaiah

    • This is a requirement mandated by the EHS Athletic Dept (not the FH coaches).

    • We already know that FH players who are in marching band will not be able to attend the strength workout, but all other Varsity and JV players are expected to attend.

      • All that being said, we understand that not all FH families will be able to manage the 9/15 strength workout. Therefore, any additional players who cannot attend the strength workout should let their coaches know IN ADVANCE, in writing and provide a reason why. Text messages are preferred. (V Coach Fischer 585-233-2105; JV Coach Posella 585-478-8221). Messaging via ParentSquare/StudentSquare is also acceptable.

    • These required strength workouts will most likely be once per week going forward and will be scheduled on dates that we do not have games.

What to bring to practice ALL DAYS:

  • FH gear (stick, mouthguard, shin guards, turf shoes or cleats (optional) AND sneakers (in case we move indoors)

  • Full water bottle

  • Wear appropriate comfortable workout clothes (no belly tops or bare midriffs)

NEW SCHOOL DISTRICT COMMUNICATION TOOL:

PLAYERS & PARENTS PLEASE PUT THE APP ON YOUR PHONE ASAP!!

The school district is adopting a new communication tool that allows students and their parents to see all school district messages — including messages from sports teams — at the same time. For field hockey, this will eventually eliminate the need for multiple texts groups for players and parents — everyone gets the same message at the same time. In time, this tool may replace text messaging altogether. All players and parents should download the free APP to their phones as soon as possible. (I am assuming the APP will be pre-loaded on the student laptops that are issued by the school district.)

Parents use the app called Parent Square

Students use the app called Student Square

We Raised More Than $1,100!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. As part of our Lancer Field Hockey Cares initiative, EHS JV field Hockey Coaches Posella and Evans took the lead in organizing a Lancer Field Hockey fundraiser to benefit The Willow Domestic Violence Center. Through online donations as well as selling donuts (donated by Donuts Delite) and having a gift basket raffle during our FH games on 10/16, the team succeeded in raising more than $1,100 to benefit Willow. Lancer Field Hockey is a long-time supporter of The Willow Domestic Violence Center, having raised well over $7,000 for the organization since 2014.

Thank you EHS FH players, families, coaches, as well as friends & alum of EHS FH, for supporting our community service efforts!!

FALL 2024: NYS SCHOLAR ATHLETE TEAM 12 YEARS IN A ROW!

We are pleased to announce that our Fall 2024 Lancer FH team once again earned NYS Scholar Athlete Team honors. This is the 12th year in a row that our team has achieved this honor. Academics are always a priority for our program and we are grateful to have such an amazing group of Student Athletes in our Lancer FH program.

FALL 2024: SECTION V FH TEAM SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD!

This is the fourth time in the past 12 years that Lancer FH has received the Section V Team Sportsmanship Award (2014, 2019, 2022, 2024). The award is voted on by the Greater Rochester Field Hockey Umpire Board. Coach Cooper and Coach Fischer work hard to keep our EHS FH program moving in a positive direction. We are grateful for our awesome players, fantastic parents and supportive Athletic Department. This award recognizes the efforts of players, coaches, parents and our school district in pursuing good character and sportsmanship within athletic programs and in athletic competitions.

FALL 2024: UNITED WE SUCCEED

FALL 2023: SECTION V (DIV 2) COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR

Lancer Field Hockey Coaches Cooper and Fischer were honored to be named the Fall 2023 Section V Division II Coaching Staff of the Year by our fellow Section V field hockey coaches. It is a testament to the great improvement our very young varsity team made throughout the Fall 2023 season! (DID YOU KNOW? Coach Fischer was also named Section V Division II Coach of the Year in Fall 2016. That was another season of great improvement for our Lancers and also a season in which Coach Fischer coached BOTH the varsity and JV teams.)
