A Few Things To Know About Lancer Field Hockey
WE ARE A FUN TEAM!
WE ARE A PREPARED TEAM!
JOIN US FOR OUR FREE EARLY MORNING TURF & CONDITIONING WORKOUTS
We meet every Tuesday and Thursday (starting Tuesday 6/25/24 and ending on Thursday 8/15/24) @EHS Stadium to play FH on the stadium turf and also to complete our professionally-developed conditioning and functional strength training workouts. These workouts are suitable for girls involved in any type of sport. That means the workouts will be beneficial to you no matter what EHS sports team (if any) you choose to participate on this Fall. Our FREE Tu/Th sessions run 7:30-11:30am. No experience necessary. No equipment needed. This is a “drop in” program. Join us whenever you are in town and available. It is a lot of fun! IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
If you choose to participate in our fun summer field hockey workouts, it DOES NOT mean you are making a commitment to play EHS field hockey in the Fall. It is 100% your decision whether you choose to continue with field hockey when our season starts on 8/21. No pressure whatsoever. If you choose to play another sport this Fall, we will wish you a happy season and cheer you on :)
If you are able to join us this summer, we think you will have a lot of fun. We’d love to have additional girls participating in our turf scrimmages. (FYI… We often have 18-20 girls in grades 6-12 taking part in our FREE summer turf time and conditioning workouts @EHS stadium.)

Fall 2024 will be the 12th season Coach Fischer is heading up the Lancer Field Hockey program as Varsity Coach. She holds the following certifications:

Coaching Staff of The Year
Lancer Field Hockey Coaches Cooper and Fischer were honored to be named the Fall 2023 Section V Division II Coaching Staff of the Year by our fellow Section V field hockey coaches. It is a testament to the great improvement our very young varsity team made throughout the Fall 2023 season! (INTERESTING FACT: Coach Fischer was also named Section V Division II Coach of the Year in Fall 2016. That was another season of great improvement for our Lancers and also a season in which Coach Fischer coached BOTH the varsity and JV teams.)

2022 Section V FH Team Sportsmanship Award. In 2022 Lancer FH was awarded the Ellen Hawver Memorial Sportsmanship Award. This is an award presented by the Greater Rochester FH Umpiring Board that recognizes the outstanding sportsmanship of Lancer players, coaches and fans. Lancer FH earned this award in 2019 and 2014 as well.

Lancer FH promotes our sport each year through FREE and fun elementary FH clinics. We promote an environment of mentorship in which our high school and middle school players teach players in grades 3-4-5 all about FH. We provide equipment to younger players as well as the structure and instruction needed to deliver a great introduction to the sport. ADDED BONUS: Our EHS and EIMS FH players earn community service credits for their participation in these youth programs. These credits can be helpful on college applications and job applications, and also helpful in meeting NHS requirements.

How We Use Three Well-Organized & Profitable Fundraisers Each Year To Create Opportunity for Our Lancer FH Players/Families
In the years 2014-2022, EHS FH has raised more than $48,700. We’ve raised this money through three simple, well-organized and profitable fundraisers each year: Spring/Mother’s Day Flower Sale; Thanksgiving Pie Sale; and Summer Car Washes. The funds raised are used solely for FH player development and equipment. Players & families earn money that goes into their own personal fundraising account. They choose to spend that money on any FH-related expenses they choose, such as camps, clinics, equipment, turf shoes, workout apparel, etc. The video below shows you how our fundraising works in a typical year.

WE ARE A CARING TEAM!
Lancer FH has raised more than $9,330 for the Willow Domestic Violence Center from 2014-2023. For many years, we have also provided more than 30 volunteers to assist with the organization’s “Walk-A-Mile” event at Ontario Beach Park. Notably, in Spring 2020, in the midst of the initial covid-19 crisis & community-wide shut-down, our team voted to donate 100% of funds raised in a modified version of our annual Spring Flower Sale to benefit BOTH the Willow Domestic Violence Center and The Irondequoit Community Cupboard. We happily presented each organization with a check for $1,065 during a time of great need in our community. Check out the video below that shows our participation in the 2019 Willow Walk. It is a meaningful annual community service event for our team and as well as a day of team bonding. ADDED BONUS: Our Lancer FH players earn community service credits for their participation in the Willow Walk. These credits can be helpful on college applications and job applications, and also helpful in meeting NHS requirements.
