Practice was always fun and something to look forward to. Whether we would lose or win, my team was always positive. It gave me experiences such as world camp training and winter leagues as well as time management and communication skills. Eastridge field hockey gave me the basic training and skills to continue on to be an NCAA athlete for four years. Whether you’re looking for a fun sport to play or looking to develop your career in college, there is a welcoming space on the team for you.

Our family had a great experience with EHS field hockey. It began on the intermediate schools with field hockey and inter murals and continued until our daughter graduated. Positivity from the coaches and players, team building, self esteem building, compassion, commitment and community service. We saw a change in our quiet daughter to a well rounded female athlete. An emphasis by the Coaches to succeed on and off the field was also greatly appreciated. Their encouragement led our daughter to playing field hockey at Oswego State.

I loved playing field hockey for Eastridge because I not only grew up with the girls I played with age-wise, I also grew with them into womanhood and adulthood. To this day I continue to keep in touch with my teammates and reminisce about all the good times we used to have. Playing field hockey for Eastridge allowed me to learn leadership skills, communication skills, and furthered my value of friendship. The opportunities I have had to expand on my skills due to field hockey are abundant. Even though I have since graduated, Coach Fischer continues to present opportunities where I can still be involved in the program.

(As of summer 2022, I am a senior in college & I still play FH & I still volunteer to help EHS FH)

Continued playing FH at SUNY Geneseo

The friendships I made through Eastridge field hockey are life-long. The playing experience and training discipline the EHS team gave me pushed me to be the best athlete I could be and still am. The support from players, families and the EHS coaching staff (whom I still stay in touch with) lead me to a road of success.

The Eastridge field hockey players and coaches were very welcoming to everyone who joined. Everyone on the team gets along really well. The coaches are very encouraging and flexible with schedules. They also know how to make the hard work seem fun. Being on the team has helped teach me positive team work and communications skills that have really paid off in the long run.

My daughter discovered field hockey in 3rd grade at after school intramurals at Durand Eastman Intermediate School. She not only enjoyed the game, but learning from the coaches and older varsity players. She remembers looking up to them as role models. And I couldn’t have been more pleased. Years later, she is now helping the younger players discover their love for Lancer Field Hockey. I will always be grateful that my daughter was part of this team, making friendships that will last a lifetime and learning skills that will serve her throughout her life and career.

I loved being a part of Eastridge Field Hockey! This program gave me the opportunity to branch out, stay fit, and build my leadership skills. I had the privilege of being a team captain my Junior and Senior year and this gave me the opportunity to set a good example and become a strong leader. I will never forget the time that I had playing field hockey for Eastridge and all the friends I made throughout that journey. I truly wish I could rewind time and be an Eastridge Field Hockey player all over again.

Coach Fischer was always looking for ways to give the girls new experiences, whether it was a fundraiser, camp, specialized training etc. I was always very impressed with her dedication to the girls, and also with her passion for sowing seeds of interest with girls in younger grades.

I was so honored to be a part of these student-athletes' journeys. It was incredible to see the growth, not only on the field, but off the field. The skills learned being a part of a team have carried me through my adult life, and I love watching players grow and navigate. The support system created by Eastridge Field Hockey is an exceptional one, not found in all extracurriculars in all schools. It is truly a wonderful environment for students with ample opportunity on the field and off.

As a parent of a field hockey player, my most positive experience is watching my daughter grow in her play and as person. The field hockey program is a second family. We support the kids and are welcomed to watch and volunteer.

Playing field hockey was a great experience for my two daughters. I saw them become confident young ladies, who participated in team building activities, and created lasting friendships. The coaches became mentors, teaching the girls lessons they can use on and off the field!

Peggy S.

Lancer FH Parent: 2014-2018

Field hockey made a positive impact on my daughter's high school experience. She enjoyed the team experience and friendships created. Her two closest friends now 3 years after high school are friends she made through field hockey. The confidence she gained carried over into other aspects of her life. The coaches were kind and encouraging and helped the girls learn the skills necessary to compete against other area schools.

Being on the Eastridge Field Hockey team was like being part of a family who only wanted to see your strive and improve to your best ability. I’ve been on other sports teams and nothing measures up to the field hockey team. I shared laughs, tears and incredible achievements with my teammates and coaching staff. There’s no place like home when you’re on the Eastridge Field Hockey team, believe me.

What made the experience with Eastridge Field Hockey a great one is definitely the coaching staff and the players. My daughter (pictured above) had no experience with Field Hockey at all. The coaches made her feel so comfortable and the fact that she never had any playing time before was never an issue. It definitely is like one big caring family. If you needed a ride, someone was always willing to jump in and provide one. If you needed equipment to use before you bought your own, that was never a problem. My daughter learned what being on a team meant and working together for a common goal.

Eastridge field hockey was the best part of my entire high school experience!!! It truly was a family that was full of heart, passion, and love for each other. The coaches were all amazing, so supportive and helped me to build on my skills and improve with every practice, game, or workout. I loved playing with my team and doing team bonding activities together!

The team and its coaches were supportive, caring and inclusive! Coach Fischer worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for players to improve strengths and skills, grow as a team and even obtain equipment and athletic wear. Additionally, the team and coaches made a point to give back as well by supporting Willow Center. As a parent, I could not have wished for a better team sport experience. My girls walked away truly understanding that, win or lose you play for love of the game.

Eastridge FH helped me cultivate a love for the game that I still have today. I was lucky to continue to play through college, and then come back to Eastridge as a coach. I've gained so much through this program. Not only a love for the sport, but lasting friendships and experiences I will never forget. Seeing all of the hard work Coach Fischer has put into the program makes me appreciate everything even more, and I feel lucky that I'm still able to be a part of the program!

I loved playing field hockey because not only is it a fun sport, but it is a team sport and I will never forget how much fun I had with my teammates both on and off the field! Coach Fischer coached us through field hockey but also life, giving opportunities for volunteering, learning experiences, and various recreational activities! Your experience with Eastridge field hockey will be all of that, and then some!

Lancer FH Parent: 2008- 2017

Both of my daughters (one of whom is pictured above) were in field hockey and enjoyed playing. The coach brought many new opportunities for the girls to improve their skills by playing indoor on Sundays, to bringing summer camps to EHS and doing fitness programs. Many many fundraisers and the individual support she gave girls and parents was very nice too. We enjoyed it and still come to visit from time to time. You will love the sport and love of our coaches.

Something that made my experience positive was having a great group of friends who were always there for me. A great staff of coaches also helped me have a great and positive experience while playing field hockey. I will always miss it.

I met my best friends in field hockey! Our team was truly a family and so supportive of each other. The coaches were also amazing and it’s easy to see how much they care about the players. If I could relive it all again I would!

Joining the field hockey team was the best decision I ever made. Going into my freshman year of high school it was nice to walk around the hallways and see all my teammates I became friends with just by showing up to practice one day. Everyone was so welcoming and happy I was there to play. As the years went on, we practiced and did workouts which made us all closer together and bond together to become a strong team. If I could do it all over again, I would. Field hockey made my high school experience and life so much better.

I had amazing experience! I loved the fact I came in knowing nothing of the sport. In fact I heard about field hockey from two of my good friends who played and constantly raved about the team along with the coaches. They convinced me to come join one of the open gyms. There the coaches were patient in teaching the ins and outs of the game. The overall environment of the team made me feel welcome and not scared to ask any questions I had. Within the team there was always a opportunity to do better, learn more and build your confidence.

The support and love from the players and coaches made things fun and lively. I felt like I fit in and that there was no one who didn’t want someone there. The entire team is a family and it was wonderful being part of something so magical. If someone needed a bit of help, anyone was willing to give that and be there if they needed anything all while teaching them something new to improve their skills.

I played both JV & Varsity field hockey, and I loved it. It wasn’t a ‘common’ sport. It was so great to learn back in middle school and to fall in love with it even more when I to moved forward with it in high school. It was amazing. The coaches, players and atmosphere was something I think every student should experience.
